Treatments

Synergy Clinic offers cosmetic medicine treatments to enhance natural looks and soften the signs of aging. The appearance of fine lines and wrinkles can be reduced using botulinum toxin. Dermal fillers can be used to contour and volumise the face, augment the lips and soften deeper facial lines. Synergy Clinic is one of the few Auckland Clinics to offer minimally invasive thread lifts to lift and support the lower face, jowls and neck areas. At Synergy Clinic we are passionate about regenerative medicine. We offer treatments with the latest collagen and elastin stimulation treatment (Profhilo), in addition to microneedling and platelet rich plasma (PRP) which are processes where we utilize the body’s own healing processes to rejuvenate the skin and soft tissues. At Synergy Clinic, all injectable treatments are performed by Dr Nikki Blomfield, who is an experienced doctor with specialised qualifications in cosmetic medicine.

BOTULINUM TOXIN

Botulinum toxin is a simple treatment that works by relaxing facial muscles thereby reducing and smoothing frown-lines and wrinkles.  The treatment results should not be obvious to others, but offers a more youthful, fresher appearance.  All three of the major brands of botulinum toxin – Botox, Dysport and Xeomin are available at Synergy Clinic.

In New Zealand, botulinum toxin is registered for use in the frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet to soften the lines. Botulinum toxin has many more “off-label” uses in the face and neck. You can discuss these other applications with Dr Nikki at your consultation.

Regular treatments to relax the facial muscles responsible for causing frown lines and crow’s feet can prevent the formation of new lines, while also improving the appearance of existing lines.

Areas commonly treated with botulinum toxin include:

  • Frown lines (worry lines) – vertical lines between the eyes
  • Forehead lines – horizontal lines on the forehead
  • Crow’s feet – horizontal lines at the corners of the eyes

Dr Nikki also uses Botox® to treat medical conditions such as chronic headaches, migraines and excessive sweating.

Depending on the area treated, dose used, and how you respond, repeat treatments will be required around every 3 - 12 months.

Hyaluronic Acid Fillers

Synergy Clinic carries a range of hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers which each have unique properties that can be applied to different areas of the face to lift, plump, hydrate, volumise, define and balance facial features.

Hyaluronic acid fillers are injectable sterile gels that consist of hyaluronic acid which occurs naturally within tissues of the body. HA fillers are injected into and under the skin to correct fine lines, wrinkles and folds in the face, to sculpt lips and form facial contours. They are also used to restore elasticity of skin and reduce irregularities on the skin’s surface.

Hyaluronic acid fillers last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the product used and the area treated.

Common treatments with fillers:

  • softening lines around the mouth (between the mouth and nose, or from the mouth to the jawline)
  • correcting fine lines in the cheeks or around the mouth
  • add volume to the cheeks
  • define the jaw or chin
  • lift the brow
  • rejuvenate hollows under the eyes or lost volume in the temples
  • enhancement of the lips
  • improve skin texture and hydration

MINT Threads

Synergy Clinic is one of the few Auckland Clinics to offer threads to lift and support the lower face, jowls and neck areas. MINT™ stands for Minimally Invasive Non-surgical Thread. It is a unique absorbable barbed thread designed to bring together and hold sagging tissues. The thread is made from a complex sugar polydioxanone or PDO - a safe suture material that has been used in orthopaedic and cardiovascular surgery for over 30 years.

A treatment with lifting threads involves the insertion of reabsorbable threads into the deeper tissues under the skin to lift and realign sagging tissue of the face and neck. The benefits include reduced appearance of sagging skin and skin folds, to improve the shape of the face, jawline or neck, and to enhance the contours of the face.

Monothreads (smooth fine PDO threads) can stimulate the deep cells to produce collagen and promote blood vessel formation which can improve the skin elasticity, fine lines and texture.

Profhilo

Profhilo is a unique stabilised injectable hyaluronic acid for treating skin laxity. It contains one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid on the market (64 mg / 2 ml) and lasts in the skin around 28 days. During this time the stimulation of 4 different types of collagen and elastin takes place by slow release of HA attracting water into the deepest layers of your skin. Therefore, it is ideal for treating fine lines, loose, wrinkled or crepey skin. Known as bio-remodelling, this treatment offers complete rejuvenation to the skin, improving the firmness and hydration to areas of the face, neck, chest and hands.

PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP)

PRP (platelet rich plasma) helps to rejuvenate the skin by utilizing the body’s own natural growth factors contained within the platelets.  PRP can be used to restore volume loss, improve skin texture and elasticity, stimulate natural collagen formation, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, improve the appearance of scars, as well as heal damaged tissues such as tendon and joints.

With PRP treatment, a small sample of the patient’s own blood is drawn and then placed in a centrifuge to separate out the red blood cells from the platelets (which are rich in growth factors) and plasma (the straw colored, fluid part of the blood). The platelet rich plasma is then carefully extracted, and injected back into the patients’ own skin or tissues where it can stimulate the body’s natural healing processes and promote cellular rejuvenation.

Common areas that can be treated with PRP:

  • face (forehead, fine lines around the eyes, cheeks, jaw line)
  • neck
  • chest and décolletage
  • scalp – to improve the appearance of thinning hair and promote growth of hair follicles
  • in the genital areas of both males and females to improve sexual function and, in the case of females, reduce symptoms of stress incontinence (bladder leakage)
